Yash Raj Films’ (YRF) upcoming magnum opus Thugs of Hindostan is to release on Diwali worldwide. Mr Perfect’s action adventure brings some of Hindi film industry’s top stars together on a massive budget. In order to cash in on the Diwali business rush, the film’s tickets are being priced at least 10% more than Ranbir Kapoor’s Sanju.
The production house is said to have told cinema screen owners across India to increase the ticket prices for the shows during the four-day extended weekend and later chop the prices by 25% during weekdays. Exhibitors have been told to confirm the ticket price before even starting their advance bookings. However, these claims are unverified.
Sanju, interestingly, holds a record for having the highest ticket pricing in multiplexes in the past 10 years. For single screen cinema halls, Salman Khan’s big budget Race 3 holds a similar record. Interestingly, YRF hopes to create a new box office record by following the same strategy. Analysts, meanwhile, predicted a Rs 50 crore opening for the film, directed by Vijay Acharya. In addition to Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan, the film also stars Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh.
