The answer appears to be a big ‘Yes’. Who is that director and for which film did he work recently? The director is none other than Sreenu Vaitla and the film happens to be the biggest flop of recent times, i.e. ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’. Even before ‘AAA’s flop, Vaitla had suffered a hat-trick of flops and the string of flops has really messed up his career.
At the peak of his career and during the making of ‘Baadshah’, Vaitla used to demand Rs. 10 crore as remuneration. But, thanks to the flops, Dookudu director is said to have worked for a monthly salary of Rs 4.50 lakh during the making of ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’. Though the production house Mythri Movie Makers liked his ‘AAA’ script they wanted to b cautious and enlisted Vaitla for a monthly salary and a small share in the profits if the film becomes a hit.
MMM even capped the ‘AAA’ budget at Rs 23 crore, but thankfully the director completed the film in Rs. 21 crore. But with the film bombing at the box office, Vaitla is receiving the flak and has been labeled as a failure director. Obviously, he would now find it difficult to get fresh offers from producers.
