Aravindha Sametha grabs 10th place as highest grossing Telugu films in US box office

Trivikram Srinivas’s “Aravindha Sametha”, starring Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao Jr and Pooja Hegde, silently stepped into the list of all-time highest grossing Telugu movies in the United States. “Aravindha Sametha” crossed the gross earnings of “Fidaa” to earn the 10th spot. After “Nannaku Prematho”, this is NTR Jr’s second film to cross the $2 million mark.

Interestingly, after “A Aa”, “Agnyaathavasi” this is Trivikram’s third film to gross over $2 million. With $2.08 million, “Aravindha Sametha” finally entered into the list of all-time highest grossing Telugu films in the US. Trivikram’s “A Aa” had earlier grossed $2.45 million in the US market. Baahubali 2 tops the list with $20 million gross.

The happening Hindi film actors Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh have set the rumours to rest and announced in an Instagram post that they are getting married on November 14-15.

‘Bajirao’ and ‘Mastani’ became inseparable after Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela’, but the two had maintained a low profile. They never openly confirmed their relationship.

Soon after the Deep-Veer’s announcement, celebrities showered their best wishes on the happening couple.

In a surprising letter on social media, hero Manchu Manoj announced he will soon leave for Tirupathi for a three-month retreat to basically seek seeking inner peace and recharge himself. In the letter, Manoj stated, “One has to stop running for a while. To find purpose, today or tomorrow, everyone has to get out of the river to find direction.”

Manoj then said he would begin his journey from the temple town. “Now, I wish to start something from Tirupathi and spread it across the globe . . . something there which would help the youth.”

Later tweeting on rumours and speculations, Manoj asked people not to speculate about his movie and political careers. He also tweeted: “Now please don’t draw any conclusions about my film career or political career. My passion for films is never ending… My thirst to do different roles can never die. I am embarking on my new journey, where the destination is the journey.”

It may be recalled that many of Manoj’s movies flopped in recent times and this probably forced him to rethink on his future course of action. It is a known fact that he had set his eyes on politics.

CBFC appoints writer and lyricist Javed Akhtar

At a time when the Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC), headed by Prasoon Joshi, is under fire from various quarters for its bipolar censorship of films, the Central Government has appointed renowned writer and lyricist Javed Akhtar to the CBFC.

This move is especially significant given that in the recent past several movies were slapped with “A” certificates, while some other films having similar content were let off easily.

Other members of CBFC include Vidya Balan, Gautami Tadimalla, Narendra Kohli, Naresh Chandra Lal, Neil Herbert Nongkynrih, Vivek Agnihotri, Waman Kendre, T.S. Nagabharana, Ramesh Patange, Vani Tripati Tikoo, Jeevitha Rajasekhar and Mihir Bhuta.

Actor Vizag Prasad passes away at 75

Telugu film industry lost one more character artist. Actor Vizag Prasad breathed his last at Yashoda Hospital in Hyderabad around 3 AM on October 21 after suffering a cardiac arrest. He was 75. He had worked in movies and TV serials like Okka Kshanam, Idhi Maa Prema Katha, Lovers Club and Subhapradam. Prasad is survived by his wife Vidyawati and two children.

Vizag Prasad made his acting debut in 1985 with the movie Babai Abbai. In a career spanning over 30 years Prasad had worked in more than 175 movies.

Keeravani introduces singer Sunitha’s daughter as singer

Veteran music composer M M Keeravani is introducing Shreya Goparaju, daughter of popular singer Sunitha, as singer in “Savyasaachi”. Shreya crooned a duet and that will be released in two days.

Confirming this news, Keeravani said Shreya’s voice is different from her mother’s voice. He said her voice has a western feel. Sunitha has a daughter (Shreya) and a son.
